Data Mining

« Back to Glossary Index

The process of analyzing large datasets to discover patterns, trends, or relationships that might not be immediately obvious. It uses algorithms to extract useful information from data, often supporting decision-making or predictions. Data mining helps improve responses by identifying what users commonly ask or need. In education, data mining can reveal student learning trends or inform adaptive technologies. While powerful, it raises questions about privacy and ethics, especially when personal or sensitive data is involved.
